If your Chinook isn't flying with the breakthrough ITAB blanket system, here's what you're missing:

Weight Savings:
The ITAB blanket systems saves ~140 lbs. per aircraft after use. That’s a really big deal on an aircraft where saving ounces is celebrated.

550 Cord:
Thanks to an improved attachment system the blankets stay firmly in place, eliminating the need for stringing up blankets with 550 cord.

Corrosion Mitigation:
Because the ITAB is highly air-permeable it doesn’t trap heat and moisture between the frame and the blanket, greatly reducing the risk of corrosion.

Improved Readiness:
The biggest corrosion problem on aircraft is hull/frame corrosion, which puts readiness at risk. By mitigating corrosion, you improve your readiness.

Reduced Maintenance:
Reducing corrosion means reducing maintenance man-hours and significant cost avoidance.

Better Performance:
Along with weight savings that allows for higher payload, and/or reduced fuel consumption, ITAB is also more thermally efficient than the legacy blanket.

That’s just a partial list of the features and benefits of the ITAB blanket system. You can see why it’s being installed on all Block II Chinooks coming off the line. To learn more about the advantages of ITAB, click here.
