Cocoon Appoints Manfred Young as Vice President of Business Development – Protective Covers and Aviation Insulation Blankets

North Hampton, NH — March 30, 2026 — Cocoon, a defense leader in innovative corrosion-prevention solutions, today announced that Manfred Young has joined the company to lead business development across its covers and blankets business segments.

Young brings more than 35 years of experience in research and development, materials science, manufacturing, and government-focused business growth within the textile and chemical industries. His career has been defined by the ability to translate complex technical capabilities into practical, high-performance solutions for demanding environments.

Prior to joining Cocoon, Young served as Vice President of R&D and Technical Support at BGF Industries, where he led product innovation, advanced material development, and technical engagement with customers and partners. He also held senior leadership roles at Elevate Textiles and Nano-Tex, contributing to the development and commercialization of performance fabrics and chemical technologies used across military and industrial applications.

Over the course of his career, Young has worked closely with U.S. military program offices, research organizations, and global manufacturing partners. He has led cross-functional teams responsible for developing, testing, and scaling materials designed to meet stringent performance, durability, and regulatory requirements—while supporting large-scale production and long-term lifecycle outcomes.

“Cocoon’s approach to protecting mission‑critical assets aligns perfectly with the work I’ve dedicated my career to—translating advanced materials and engineering into practical, reliable solutions for the warfighter.” Young said. “I’m excited to help expand these capabilities and deliver measurable performance improvements across the military platforms we serve.”

In his role, Young will lead engagement with government and industry stakeholders to drive scalable, repeatable growth across current and future military assets, while helping shape procurement pathways, program integration, and sustainment strategies that position Cocoon’s solutions as effective tools for corrosion prevention and asset protection.

“Manfred brings a blend of deep technical expertise and strategic commercial experience that will strengthen our team and support our growth across protective covers and aviation insulation blankets.” said Amy Coyne, President & CEO of Cocoon. “His ability to connect material science with customer needs will help amplify Cocoon’s collective impact across the defense ecosystem.”

Young holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and has completed executive business training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
