Corrosion-Free Environment achieves ROI of more than 1000%

A storage warehouse in Georgia used for mission-critical military aircraft components, and other parts vital to mission-readiness, held an average of $15-$20 million in inventory. As is the case with most warehouses, high humidity and swings in temperature led to corrosion resulting in +/- $2.5 million in annual losses, or roughly 15% of inventory.

To solve the problem, Cocoon was hired to convert the warehouse into a Corrosion-Free Environment to include both humidity and temperature control. Working in partnership with Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) and Munters Corporation (world leaders in dehumidification systems) the warehouse was designed to maintain relative humidity (RH) below 45% and a temperature range of 60 - 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Since the Corrosion-Free Environment came online, no newly-stored parts have been lost, greatly reducing costs and stresses on the supply chain while at the same time increasing readiness.

The cost of the Corrosion-Free Environment was approximately $200,000 which equaled an annual ROI of 1000%. The facility paid for itself in 4-5 weeks.
