Our aviation blankets don’t just start light, they stay light.

Making a high-performance aviation blanket that’s lightweight is difficult enough. But the real challenge is to keep it from gaining weight over time.

Traditionally, aviation blankets soak up fluids, adding weight over time that there’s no way to reduce. The retention of fluids adds weight to aircraft, causes attachment failures (drooping), and soils the blankets.

Employing advanced technical textiles, Cocoon’s aviation blanket is both hydrophobic (wet weight = dry weight) and oleophobic (repels fluids like oils and lubricants). The result is significant weight savings - not only out of the box, but after years of use.

Cocoon’s ITAB for the CH-47 is 60 pounds lighter than the legacy blanket new, and over 140 pounds lighter after use. Our blanket was weighed annually over a 3-year period and there was no appreciable weight-gain, validating that it not only starts light, it stays light.
